Wintertree Software is pleased to announce the release of the WSpell ActiveX spelling-checker control.

WSpell is a 32-bit ActiveX control that can be used to add professional-quality spelling-checker capability to applications developed using Visual Basic, Delphi, and other environments that support ActiveX.

The WSpell control can be used to check the spelling of text in strings and most text boxes. Suggestions are offered to help correct misspelled words using phonetic or typographical word matching. Personal words can be added to user dictionaries. The control includes built-in dialogs which can be used to check spelling or edit user dictionaries. Custom dialogs can be provided by the application. WSpell can be also used to check the spelling of words and look up suggestions without interacting with the user. Commonly misspelled words can be automatically or conditionally corrected.

WSpell supports multiple main and user dictionaries. Dictionary files can be placed on local disk drives or on network file servers. American and British dictionaries, each containing about 100,000 words, are included with WSpell, as is an auto-correction dictionary containing hundreds of common English misspellings and their correct replacements. User dictionaries from other applications, including Word and WordPerfect, can be used by WSpell. WSpell can use any of Wintertree Software's nine foreign-language dictionaries plus Wintertree's medical and legal dictionary.

The WSpell package includes the WSpell ActiveX control, a comprehensive programmer's guide, American and British main dictionaries, an auto-correction dictionary, and source code for example Visual Basic and Delphi applications.
